Proud People, Proud City

Sherman Winslow was the  unofficial  town  photographer.    Although he worked  for Senior  Studios  in  Ocean  City  New  Jersey most  of   his  short  life he took many photographs for fun and profit at his home on Connecticut avenue.   People would need  passport    photographs  or  for   other   reasons.

They would come  to the house after  work in their work clothes to have this done.     I  have included as much of the  photograph to  help reflect the  time era so  all could  see that Somers Point  men  and  women  were a hard working class of people. These pictures are the actual  negatives    that were found after 40 years  in boxes in closets, cellars and drawers.  The quality is not that of actual prints but through manipulation  of   computer  software we were able to bring them back to life using those negatives.

These  special  pages  will  be  updated   as  time allows.   I will publish the ones with names first.    The rest of  the  negatives  will be  published  with no names for you to identify the people for me.
